Gmail data and Limited Use
What happens when you connect a Gmail account so ApplyOnBehalf can read job and recruiter mail and reply on your behalf.
Limited Use
If you connect a Gmail account, you authorize ApplyOnBehalf to use Google APIs to access that mailbox. We use that access to read job and recruiter mail, show those messages in your account, and prepare and send replies on your behalf about your job search. That is the feature you see in the account: a dedicated mailbox for the search, and a record of the messages and replies.
ApplyOnBehalf’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Under those Limited Use requirements, Gmail data is handled as follows:
- We use it only to provide and improve the job-search features that are visible in your account: reading job and recruiter mail, showing it to you, and replying on your behalf. We do not use it for any other product.
- We do not sell Gmail data. We do not transfer or use it for advertising, including retargeting, personalized, or interest-based advertising. We do not transfer or use it to decide credit-worthiness or for lending. We do not transfer it to advertising platforms, data brokers, or information resellers.
- We do not use Gmail data to train general-purpose machine-learning or artificial intelligence models.
- People on the ApplyOnBehalf team may read messages in the connected mailbox because you connect it and authorize us to read job and recruiter mail and reply on your behalf. We do not allow people to read that data for any other reason, except when it is necessary for security (such as investigating abuse), to comply with law, or when the data is aggregated and anonymized and used only for internal operations.
- We transfer Gmail data only with your consent to provide this feature, for security, to comply with law, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets after we obtain your explicit prior consent.
You can withdraw access by disconnecting the mailbox in your account, or by removing ApplyOnBehalf’s access in your Google Account. After you disconnect, we stop new access. Retention of mail we already stored is described in the Privacy Policy. Questions go to support@applyonbehalf.com. The public site is applyonbehalf.com.
This disclosure is also included in the Privacy Policy. The homepage links to both pages. Questions: support@applyonbehalf.com.
